Public Restrooms – Not everyone is comfortable in public restrooms. It could be due to the condition of toilets are dirty, or indeed feel paranoid in public restrooms. People who are paranoid may be due to imagine the number of bacteria that live around the toilet. Moreover, the toilet is often used interchangeably thus simplifying the transmission of viruses and bacteria.
Toilet did have some disease-causing bacteria, such as streptococcus, staphylococcus, E. Coli, and hepatitis A. Toilet is also home to the common cold virus. Streptococcus is a bacteria that can cause diseases such as strep throat and skin infections such as impetigo. In fact, serious illnesses can develop from bacteria.
Such as Streptococcus, Staphylococcus aerus is a bacteria found on the skin. However, these bacteria have the ability to create seven different toxins that cause food poisoning.
While E. coli normally live in the intestines of healthy people. Nevertheless, many variants of E. coli are harmless. Some species can cause severe stomach cramps, diarrhea with bleeding, and vomiting. E. Coli live on the surface with normal moisture easily spread to people. And, hepatitis A is a virus that is found in the feces and blood of an infected person. There is no specific treatment for the virus.
Seeing this exposure, a reasonable person to fear lingered in public restrooms. However, this concern should not overdo it. According to Abigail Salyers, PhD, former president of the American Society for Microbiology, though there is the possibility of the spread of sexually transmitted diseases (STD) from a toilet seat, but that almost never happens. Infection due to organisms go through body contact, through the urethral tract (genital), or through an open wound (pain).
“far as I know never happened STD transmission in the toilet unless they had sex in the toilet,” he said.
However, to minimize the occurrence of infections with bacteria per individual, then one should behave clean and healthy. Like, wash your hands with running water and soap. After washing your hands then one must use a paper towel.
Flushing toilet is not designed for feet but hands. If you use toilet paper should be protected from metal or plastic cover. And, if you use a hand dryer try not to touch the surface of the wind hole.
